Dr Shelly Mohan is a Primary Care Physician with a special focus on Women’s Health, and is a specialist in the field of public health. She is a former national scholar and studied medicine at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine. After graduating in 2003 she practiced in the field of primary care, which sparked her interest in public health and propelled her to obtain a Master of Public Health degree with distinction in 2011. Since then she has actively participated in multiple public health programmes in the public and private sectors. It was during a women’s health Initiative that she planned for her former employer, that she realized the need for a women’s health practitioner for simple yet urgent female complaints, that do not require specialist care or for women who were not able to see their gynaecology specialist in a timely manner. Dr Mohan decided to fulfil this need and obtained a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She now operates her own general practice and is passionate about Women’s Health and preventative strategies to protect the health of the population.
